Environment and sustainability 

ISO 14001 – Environmental management systems  

Since 2019 we have been applying an integrated Environmental Management System across all our activities, aiming to systematically monitor and improve our environmental performance, and reduce any impacts from our operation.  

Alpha Supporting Services, a Group company, also holds this certification. 

ISO 14064 – Greenhouse gases 

We manage responsibly our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, aiming to reduce them and align with the Paris Agreement. In 2021 we became the 1st bank in Greece to be validated by international certification body TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas for our GHG emissions based on ISO 14064. 

EMAS – Eco-Management and Audit Scheme 

We systematically monitor and improve our environmental performance. Since 2021 we have been drafting and submitting to the Greek Ministry of Environment and Energy an annual voluntary statement based on the EMAS guidelines for all our central operations and bank branches. Alpha Bank was registered in the EMAS register on 20.03.2023, by decision of the above Ministry. 

Society and social responsibility

ISO 45001:2018 – Occupational health and safety management systems 

We have developed and apply across our operations an integrated Occupational Health and Safety Management System certified to the ISO 45001 standard by TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas. Our aim is to foster a safe work environment for our employees, clients, visitors, associates, suppliers and all other stakeholders. 

Alpha Supporting Services, a Group company, also holds this certification. 

Governance and administrative/organisational structure 

ISO 22316 – Security and resilience / Organisational resilience 

In 2022 we became the 1st bank in Greece to be certified by TÜV AUSTRIA Hellas to ISO 22316  for our organisational resilience.  

This certification reaffirms our dedication to best practices and ground-breaking methodologies that ensure: 

  • Successfully aligning with and being resilient to the ever-changing business environment.  
  • Smoothly meeting the targets in our daily operations. 

ISO 20000-1 – Information technology / Service management 

Since 2019 we have been applying an integrated IT Management System certified to ISO 20000-1. The System covers all relevant services offered by all Alpha Bank business units and branches. 

Alpha Supporting Services also holds this certification. 

ISO 27001 – Information security management systems 

We ensure the highest level of information security and have been certified to the ISO 27001 standard. 

In 2022 we extended the scope of the certification to incorporate:  

  • ISO 27701 – Security techniques / Privacy information management. 
  • ISO 27017– Code of practice for information security controls for cloud services. 
  • ISO 27018 – Code of practice for protection of personally identifiable information (PII) in public clouds. 

Alpha Supporting Services, a Group company, also holds the ISO 27001 certification. 

ISO 9001 – Quality management systems 

We apply an integrated Quality Management System, certified to ISO 9001, for our critical operations, aiming to continuously improve the services we offer our clients. 

The following Group companies also hold this certification: 

ISO 22301 – Security and resilience / Business continuity management systems 

Since 2008 our Group has been applying a Business Continuity Management System, which ensures its continuous operation to the highest extent possible. 

Alpha Bank has been certified to ISO 22301 since 2013.

BS 10012 – Personal Information Management System 

We comply with the requirements surrounding the installation, implementation and certification of a Personal Information Management System.
