Our Environmental Policy
We have drawn up an ambitious, long-term policy to protect the environment.
Implementing a certified Environmental Management System
Our operation complies with the applicable national and EU regulatory framework and codes of conduct, and we do everything to ensure the environmental laws are observed in all our activities. We developed our own Environmental Management System according to ISO 14001 as early as 2019. Our purpose is to track and improve our environmental impact. This is why we launch targeted initiatives to recycle and use energy reasonably.
Since 2021, we have added a management system according to ISO 14064 to our existing certifications, to reduce our greenhouse gas emissions.
We also drafted our first Environmental Statement as per the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), which we submitted to the Greek Ministry of Environment, Energy and Climate Change.
Linking banking products to environmental protection
True to our high environmental awareness, we design and offer sustainable banking products and services, including specifically designed green loans, e-statements and online products for our retail clients.
Our environmentally oriented financing solutions allow large, medium and small enterprises to invest in initiatives to:
- Save energy.
- Use renewable energy sources (RES).
- Upgrade manufacturing operations.
We also incorporate non-financial environmental criteria in our credit assessments.
We strongly motivate Private Banking clients to invest in products with a positive environmental impact. Through these investment products, we contribute to restoring Greek forests.
Ensuring our Environmental Policy is implemented
To the end of ensuring that all our employees continuously and seamlessly observe the Policy, we organise training and information sessions. This is how our own people become aware of the environmental causes supported by Alpha Bank, and develop growing ecological and environmental consciousness. At the same time, we are in continuous exchange with our shareholders, clients, partners and the government regarding sustainability issues. We regularly issue reports with the results of our environmental initiatives.
