Our contribution to the national efforts to address the COVID-19 pandemic was a decisive one. We supported the National Health System by making donations to 3 large Greek hospitals. At the same time, we supported the Emergency Intervention Programme for Vulnerable People 60+ by the Doctors of the World, which was aimed at vulnerable seniors suffering from chronic diseases.

Supporting the National Health System

During the COVID-19 pandemic we covered immediate needs of the medical and nursing staff, while ensuring better hospitalisation conditions for our fellow citizens. We donated medical supplies to the Intensive Care Units of 3 referral hospitals:

  • Sotiria Thoracic Diseases General Hospital of Athens.
  • AHEPA University General Hospital of Thessaloniki.
  • University General Hospital of Larissa.

We made targeted donations after first communicating with the management of the 3 hospitals and recording their needs, such as:

  • Vital sign monitors for patients.
  • Digital radiography systems.
  • Digital electrocardiographs.
  • Videolaryngoscopy systems.
  • Bronchoscopes.
  • ICU beds.
  • Personal protective equipment for the medical and nursing staff.

Aiding seniors through the Doctors of the World

We joined forces with the Doctors of the World to aid our vulnerable fellow senior citizens, whose daily life was affected by the pandemic.

We supported the Emergency Intervention Programme aimed at our vulnerable fellow citizens aged 60+, who suffered from chronic diseases and lived alone, with no income or assistance from relatives.

The programme covered the greater Athens region through 3 actions:

  • Home delivery of medications.
  • Remote medical counselling and psychological support.
  • Online companionship programme for the elderly.

The Doctors of the World team consisted of a social worker, a doctor, a psychologist and a nurse.
